A threshold. A table. A few good books a year, read together and talked over well.
Welcome to The Atrium. The name comes from Roman domestic architecture — the entry courtyard, partly roofed and partly open to the sky, where strangers became guests and guests became conversational partners in the life of the household. That is the posture this site is after.
This home hosts two reading tables:
The Atrium is a quarterly reading society for colleagues and church planters connected to Orchard Group. One book per quarter, four genres over the year, discussion in the Socratic mode. Start with the charter for scope and posture, or browse the current cycle.
Logos & Lore is a local reading group in Pennsylvania that has tackled texts from Beowulf and Plato to modern philosophy and the novel. Annual reading lists and session notes will live here as they accumulate.
Whitepapers and longer essays sit alongside both tables. They grow slowly and on purpose.
